    Why Is My Computer Beeping

If one day you turn your computer on and it doesn’t start properly and all you can hear if your computer beeping. there is most likely a hardware problem.

Putting your ears to the speaker will determine if the beeping noise is coming from inside the actual computer or from the speakers.

In most cases the beeping will be coming from inside the computer, on it’s motherboard and these beeps indicate your computer has a physical problem and understanding the beep codes will determine what kind of problem it is.

Unfortunately, there are so many hardware vendors and motherboard manufactured with their own unique beep codes, so it is kind of hard to list them all in one post.

If your not sure what each beep code means and how to repair it, it is probably better to leave it to a professional and always make sure the device, computer, laptop etc is not plugged into the electricity, and make sure it is void of all power and electricity.

    BIOS Rom Corrupt

Your BIOS, is the Basic Input Out System on your motherboard.

It basically helps your system get started and determines what boot devices will run first and manage the flow of data between the operating system and hardware, motherboard etc.

Whether it is hardware failure, power-surge or even virus this system can become corrupt and make the system unstable or unable to post.

    Memory Failure

Your memory, not to be confused with hard drive storage is the part of your computer which programs and activities get stored temporality while you are using and accessing them.

Sometimes memory fails because of age, or power related issues.

Also, if your computer has received a knock sometimes your memory modules become dislodged and your motherboard will not be able to see them and make a beep code.

    Bad Processor

Your CPU (Central Processing Unit) is the brain of your computer and most likely made by Intel or AMD.

The computer will not do anything without a healthy working CPU. The CPU does many things including moving signals to other parts of the computer and executing a list of things you want and need the computer to do, instructions.

    CMOS Battery Failure

The motherboard and CMOS has a lot of settings which come default with the computer or which you may have instructed and set.

These settings would be lost without the aid of a CMOS battery.

When your CMOS battery gets flat sometimes your computer will turn on but not have the necessary settings to make things work properly or it will not turn on at all and give a error code.

Replacing a CMOS battery is much easier on a desktop computer but a lot harder to get to on most laptops.
