What is the Best Computer for Me

We get asked a lot, “what is the best computer for me?” or, “what is the best computer to buy”?

This is a very hard question to answer and most of the time our responsive is it is different for everyone.

Everyone has not only different needs and expectations, but they are also different and where and how they do things.

A lot of computer are very similar and sometimes it can come down to what software you need on your computer, rather than the type of computer you need or brand.

In this post I will group a couple of computers and types of computers with users and requirements. This wont cover everyone but will a lot of people.

The Real Kicker – Most are the same

Before I continue I want to state that a lot of different computers are very similar of not the same. A lot of it is marketing, brans and colours etc.

Under the casing of most computers are either 1 of 2 processors or 1 of a couple of hard drive manufactures, the only difference being the size and speed.

So no matter what computer you buy it will not be completely unique and have some of the same parts which are in most computer or laptops.

    Laptops

This is an easy one. Laptops are almost as powerful as desktop computers.

I have both laptops and desktops but the main reason anyone gets a laptop is still because it is portable.

You can put it on your bag and take it somewhere with you, move between rooms or put it on your lap while you lie in bed and watch movies.

Unless you are gaming ( and a lot of laptops are built for gaming these days but are much more expensive) a laptop will just about fill all requirements – except size.

    Desktops

If you are the type of person who always likes to have the latest and greatest, wants to keep upgrading or prefer a computer with a bigger screen that never gets moved – a desktop is the way to go.

Desktops are significantly cheaper to not only upgrade, but to also repair and buy parts.

Unlike laptops which most components are integrated all together, desktop computers parts can easily be interchangeable and upgraded.

    Tablets and Mobile Phones

Although we are currently no repairing tablets and mobile phones, they do have their place.

I personally don’t use a tablet very much, i think they are very limited. But for just answering some emails, browsing sites or streaming some movie sites, tablets are good for that.

Being tablets are so cheap, most of the time it is cheaper to buy a new one than get repaired.

    Business Computers

A business computer can be either a laptop or desktop computer – which ever you prefer.

Having a business computer is much more about the software you have on it like Quickbooks or MYOB. Business computers usually come with a little more memory and hard drive space, as well as some sort of data redundancy protection to protect the data and back up.

Physically in most cases there is no difference between a business computer and normal desktop – based on current prices.

    Home Computers

If you are just using you computer for home use such as checking emails, looking at facebook and Netfilx and maybe surfing the web, a computer 5 years old with out as much power will be good enough.

The only thing which might let you down here is the software might not be up to dat e which might effect things such as you might not be able to open attachments in emails made by new versions of software you don’t have.

    Gaming Computers

Gaming computers are usually desktop computers and require a whole lot more power and grunt.

Im not talking about the games you play on Facebook. Im talking about in depth, high processing 3D gaming which require a powerful dedicated graphics card, significantly more memory and a faster hard drive like a SSD (Sold Sate Drive)
