Share Your Internet from Windows 10

Most people either have some sort of modem, router or wireless device they use to access the internet these days.

Gone are the days we used one connection per computer, or everyone had their own dial up connection. For most people the will definitely be the way to go, but every now and again people find themselves in a situation where interent if infrastructure is limited, and you might need to share the interent from your Windows 10 computer.

I am choosing to write about Windows 10, as there have been significant improvements in internet sharing in the Microsoft Windows EcoSystem and Windows 10 isMicrosofts latest operating system a lot of people have now.

Pros of Sharing Internet from Computer or Laptop

Sharing your internet form your computer can be quite convenient.

Although it might not be the ideal solution in the home or business where a lot of services might be attached to, but if you are on the go or to get out of trouble if a service is down it can be quite useful.

The ability to share from your computer is really helpful when you are mobile and travelling around.

Similar to your hotspot from your phone, you can quickly setup a share and other users, family etc can use it temporarily.

Cons of Sharing Internet from Computer or Laptop

The first major problem when sharing your internet from your computer is your computer itself.

If you wanted to do something to your computer, restart it and maybe install something, all the other computers using your interent would have to wait and fall off the internet in the mean time.

Also if your computer working as the router is slow and problematic it will run even slower and the people using it might not be able to access the net or get frustrated.

How to Share Internet form Windows 10 Computer or Laptop

There are a few ways to do this and it really depends on what software you have on your computer but we are going to assume you are doing a basic setup with only the Microsoft Windows 10 operating built-in software.

    Steps:

    1. Go to control panel and select network connections.
    2. Select the properties by right clicking on the network adapter with your internet connection you want to share.
    3. Select the Sharing Option.
    4. Go to “Home Network Connection” and select “Microsoft Hosted Virtual Adapter” and you are done.
