    Apple Mac Wont Upgrade OSX

Computer operating systems are very complicated and technical pieces of software. Unlike most computer software and apps which sit on top and get installed within your operating like Windows, OSX and Linux; Operating systems are responsible for being part of the computer which allows you talk to the physical hardware and components of your computer.

I like to think of the applications you use on your computer like Google Chrome and Microsoft Office as the countries, and the operating system as the world in which those countries exist.

Different types of computers use different operating systems, but no a days you can just about put any operating system on any type of computer.

Primarily Microsoft Windows is for PC’s, but since Linux is becoming more popular I am seeing it a lot more on Personal Computer and Laptops also.

    Apple OSX

Apple Macs and Macbooks make their own operating system called OSX. The latest version of OSX is called Sierra (10.13) and Apple operating system have a reputation for being very secure (not 100%) and very robust.

Foe the lucky people who can afford Apple Mac and Imac computers, Apple are very progressive in releasing updates and upgrades for the OSX operating system, and because OSX is made specifically to be used with the hardware Apple make themselves it works very very well.

The biggest complaint though we get from Apple OSX users is they can not upgrade their operating systems when a new release comes out.

Upgrades are different then updates. Updates, updating the existing setup, where as upgrades add a new setup all together. Most of the time this works seamless and works around your current files and sand applications so you don’t need to install them again. But sometimes it makes the system unstable, unusable or completely stuck unable to boot up.

Common Reasons You Can Upgrade OSX

    Your system is too old

Even though Apple make the operating system and the hardware you are using it does have a shelf life. As well as the physiocal compnetns only lasting so long, so does the operating software support.

If your computer is too old the designers of OSX over at Apple will excluded you from upgrading you computer operating system due to it making your machine run unstable. You simply wont be able to upgrade.

    Poor Internet Connection

OSX upgrades are usually quite big and you will need a decent stable internet connection to download and upgrade your computer.

If you have a low connection you can always download the complete operating system from the Apple store using another mac on another internet connection, put it onto a USB and move it onto your Mac to do the Upgrade manually.

    Viruses

Yes Apple computers and laptops get viruses too.

It is common thought, Apple computers do not get viruses, but it is simply not true. It is true they get less viruses due to the way OSX is designed and the much smaller market of Apple computers floating around the internet.

But if you think you are going to get an Apple computer, download without thinking and accepting and opening every file you come across thinking you wont be infected because you have a Macbook Pro or Imac, you are really mistaken.

    Hardware Faults

Like any other computer, device or piece of hardware, Apple computers can physically fail also.

If some of the hardware components in your Macbook or Imac computer are playing up, failing or simply not performing as well as they use to, you might have troubles installing and upgrading Apple OSX.

HDD seem to be the most common fault along with bad LCD screens and motherboards.

    Backup

I can’t stress backing up enough. Anytime you are going to do any major updates or upgrades to your computer, or even just for routine, back up your computer.

You don’t always need the most sophisticated software to back up or a Time Machine capsule.

If you have an external hard drive which can be plugged into your USB port (you might have to format it for Mac) just simply plug it in and copy anything you think is important to you straight into it.

It might take you some time but you will be so glad you did if something happens and you are unable to get any of your precious data back.
