There are a lot of option for transferring files from your computer to you Android phones. A very popular method for a lot of Samsung users is Kies, but most phones have their own software for managing their Android devices, much like Apple has Itunes.
But what if you want a lot more from a software package on your computer than just transferring large amounts of files like Music, Videos, Documents, Photos and Contacts etc?
Mobile phones has always been the vein of my existence. I love my smart phone but when I am in a hurry or maybe its my awkward hands, sometimes I just find it too hard!
Introducing AirDroid
AirDroid is a free App or Browser controlled system for your Android device that not only manages your system but can also control it as well.
As long as both your computer and phone is connected to the internet, whether it is wireless or through your carrier service you will be able to control settings on your phone, transfer files, see where your phone is and make phone calls form your computer.
I have big fingers and I don’t really like typing messages on my phones keyboard. I am on it a lot and a lot of times I need to type out big long messages and conversations with customers. Using the phones keyboard I end up accidentally typing all sorts of horrible things.
So what I do is use the AirDroid program on my computer, type my messages with in the software using my computers keyboard which talks to my phone and sends the message from it. And when customers reply I don’t even have to look at my phone, the message popups on my computer screen.
What is Android
Android is the operating system (environment for your phone to operate in) developed by Google for most mobile phones. Android does not just work on mobile phones it is also used on tablets and televisions.
Android was originally developed by the company Android and bout by Google in 2005.
Most mobile phones either use Android (the most popular) or IOS for Apple iPhones. Microsoft also have their own phone which are around but just not that prominent.
Android is based on the Linux operating system which is a free open source operating system alternative to Windows for computers and has become very popular the last 10 years on desktop and servers around the world.
What is Open Source
Open source software basically represents a range of values software is designed around. It usually means it is designed to be open to the public where anybody can change, use and redevelop and add to for their desired reasons.
It used to be thought if something was open source it was less secure but we have learnt over the years the more open software is to scrutiny the more people can see its vulnerabilities and design and implement ways to make it better and more secure.
Phone companies use this to their advantage. Some phone manufactures put the basic primary version of Android on their mobile phones and other manufacturers like Samsung edit and change it to best suit their customer needs on their devices.
