Google Warns You of Fake Download Buttons

Have you ever gone to a website to download a specific file only to find out all the download, or most a fake.

You have to click on every download link until one of them actually work and you get the file you came for. Some a viruses, some are adware but the majority are just getting you tow download and buy something you don’t want.

So many biug sites are notorious for it. What they do is get files people might be interested in downloading from their original source, beef their websites up with SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) so it shows up high on Google.

You the unsuspecting user finds that website and spends half the day installing and uninstalling other files that website has tricked you into downloading thinking it was the file you were after.

Don’t you wish there was some way to know which sites are legitimate and which ones are not?

    Google knows everything

As well as being the worlds number one source of information and if that wasn’t enough reason to use Google, now they are going to start telling us beforehand what pages have fake download buttons on them.

Not only are they going to warn you of Fake Downloads they will also be notifying us of any sites which try and trick you with activities such as:

    Social Engineering

The art of manipulating people by pretending and other fake social interactions to get what they want from you like information etc.

    Fake Software Warnings

Warning signs such as pretending to be your Antivirus program like Norton, and telling you to up[date it through a fake link which puts all sort of terrible things onto your computer, laptop or mobile device.

When you attempt to go to one of these sites Google Chrome will present you with a big red warning screen.

    Google and Malware Alerts

Google already does a wonderful job of alerting us when we are about to click on a site which has Viruses, Spyware and Adware on it.

If you are entering a site by using the Google Chrome web browser it will tell you when before hand the site has Malicious code on it somewhere. This means enough people have flagged the site and Google keeps a list of bad sites to protect us from them.

This includes but is not limited to websites with harmful software on them, deceptive titles to trick you and sites containing Malware.

I highly recommend Google Chrome as a web browser for its security and speed. Google Chrome can be downloaded here.

Treat the Internet like any other part of your life

Hopefully sooner or later with enough people using Google Chrome, websites will stop or we will see a decline websites trying to trick us. I always tell people treat the internet like any other part of your life.

On the interent you will find people who will love you, hate you and want to use you but for some reason we let our guards down on it, If someone knocked on your door and said the King Of Africa wanted to offer you $100,000,000 you would slam it in their face.

But because its on the internet a lot of us can’t help but click on the link or let our guard down a little. Treat the internet like you would any other part of you life.
