The fonts your customer will see on our website will depend on a wide range of possibilies. Depending on what type of computer you have, what browser you use and in some cases what country your website is being viewed can determine the viewing experience your customers or users will see.

So, if we want to add some new fonts to our website because we either don’t want it to look generic and we want to make sure everyone has the same experience, we will need to add custom or extra fonts to our Wordpress.

How to Add New Fonts to Wordpress

The two easiest ways to add new fonts to your Wordpres theme is either through a Plugin or by adding a few lines of code to your CSS  (Cascading Style Sheets).

Plugins: Software addons which perform functions.

The best and easiest plugin to down and use for your Wordpress Font Expansion is, Google Fonts for Wordpress.

Google has a gigantic free repository of fonts and this Wordpress plugin makes it very easy to download and install these fonts directly into your Wordpress installation.

    Using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)

Cascading Style Sheets is like an extension language which arranges the presentation of the document and media.

The great thing about CSS, is you do not have the change all your website, documents and media around every time you want to change the appearance of your website.

To add a new font to you Cascading Style Sheet, first go to https://fonts.google.com and find a font you like. Once you have done that, click he plus sign and scroll down to the @import link. Copy the style and paste it into your CSS.

Now you have told your website to call the font externally every time it sees the request.

Arrange your font-family links to reflect the import and you have successfully imported new free fonts from Google directly to your Wordpress Website,
