    5 Tips for Maximizing Your YouTube Videos

    Although Townsville Nerds primarily work on repairing computer and making websites, we do a lot of Youtube marketing to build brand awareness for our online customers all over the world.

    A big part of driving traffic to certain types of websites, specially those trying to sell products (not so much servers like Townsville Nerds) is Youtube.

    Youtube is now the second biggest website in the world, and the second biggest website.

    But, with 300 hours of video uploaded to Youtube every minute, how and what can you do to get your videos recognizsed? Although I don’t want to give away a lot of our paid secrets, there are some very good time tried and test strategies that have worked for a long time and will continue to work in the future.

    This is what I tell our clients…

    1. Patience

    This is the hardest pill for clients to follow and understandably so. Without lots of money to constantly spend on advertising, you are going to have to be patient, prepare to learn and the rules change and be patient.

    Its not going to all happen in one week, or even one month. It is lots of hard work and there is lots of competition, so you better come to play!

     

    2. Keywords and Tags

    Keyword research and proper video tags are very important if you want you video to show up beside related videos or in search.

    You must get your keywords right!

    But what keywords are good and how will you know? For that I use a tool called TubeBuddy which helps you not only identify popular and competitive keywords, but can also let you know which ones are good for your channel, video and based on your audience what you can personally rank well for.

     

    3. Visually Appealing Thumbnail  4 .A Catchy Title

    Thumbnails are one of the most important features to take advantage on in Youtube.

    To begin with your videos are probably not going to show up in search, your keywords are probably not going to be competitive and your channel will not be authoritative.

    So, when your video does show up on peoples screens, it will be among a lot of other videos so it better have a great visually appealing thumbnail to get your audiences attention and a great title that will intrigue viewers enough to want to click on it.

     

    5. A Great Video, Not Great Production

    You do not need to go out and buy a $5000 camera. Some of the best and most popular videos on Youtube were recorded with a simple mobile phone video camera.

    And unlike television, a lot of the time the more amateurish a video is, the more popular.

    You also dont want you videos to be too long or people loose interest, but if they are too short you can loose people as well. We find videos anywhere between 3 and 8 minutes seems to be the sweet spot but it can be different for every product.

    Where people go wrong when making videos is not getting to the point or making a preview early enough. You have about 5 seconds to catch your audiences attention before they go elsewhere, so make the most of them.
