    Copying lots of files

There is nothing more frustrating than waiting 5 hours for your files to copy form one location to another, and right before its finished it stops and you need to start again.

Whether its all your music, movies or pictures, copying a lot of files is a painstaking, time consuming operation which pretty much leaves you at the mercy of your computer and how long it will take.

Although a lot of the later Windows Operating Systems are much better at handling breakages in copying files, it still happens and it drives us all crazy.

    Ycopy and Teracopy

I usually either use Ycopy or Teracopy to copy large amounts of files between computers or onto an external drive like, jump drive, external hard drive, DVD or usb Drive.

    Ycopy can be downloaded here.

    Teracopy can be downloaded here.

The beauty of using either of these free programs is if they come across a file they are unable to move or copy, they simply make a note of it and then move onto the next file and keep on going.

They do not stop the whole process and you do not need to restart all over again.

Both of these programs are free and I can;t really see any benefit to using one over the other. I use to use Ycopy a lot and in recent times have been using Teracopy, but it really comes down to personal preference. Both are small and quick to download and very easy to use.

    Ycopy vs Teracopy

Although I find Ycopy a little faster than Teracopy, but on one of my computers and I do not know why, Ycopy does not start up properly.

Saying that I have used Ycopy on 100’s of computers, but on one particular computer in particular it just does not work. Teracopy is not as fast as Ycopy (in my experience only) but it always starts good and on every machine I have used it on.

I still use them both of them, and it really depends on which one I think of first, but both are great and solve the problem of if one file does not copy, the whole process doe not stop and continues until it has finished the rest.
