What Do You Need For a Gaming Computer

Townsville Nerds does not build computers. We use to, but due to market share and prices of computers built already made, it’s just something right now we want to do in our business.

Saying that people ask us all the time to help[ them with components they have already bought and advice on what they need for a great gaming computer.

This post will give you the ins and outs of what to buy and look for when making a great gaming computer without totally blowing out the bank account.

    Townsville game computers

    Budget

This is the most important one.

You can always buy a better computer, you can always spend more and every day there are going to be better and better parts.

The number one thing you should do when buying a great gaming computer is decide your budget and stick to it. The longer you spend on time looking for more value for money, the more you will spend.

Find what you want and if it matches your budget you in good shape.

    What Games You Play

There is no point spending $5000 when you can build a machine that does just as good a job when spending $2000.

You can build a computer that will perform better on different games, but if you aren’t playing those games, what is the point?

If you are not sure, you can look on the game box or go to the games website and see what specifications your computer will need to play that game, or any games you want to play.

Then back to first section: “Budget”.

    CPU and Cooling

At this point in time any of the good QUAD CORE i7 Processors will do to play computer games.

You can always buy hex cores and up, but they will be over kill and too much money to play computers games on.

Those sort of processors are great for video editing, number crunching and compiling software but you wont see a whole lot of difference when playing computer games.

Where you will see a lot of difference is keeping your CPU (Central Processing Unit) cool.

Buying a great cooling system for your computer gaming rig will be beneficial on all levels of gaming and computer systems.

Loading Speeds – Sold State Hard Drives

Maybe I’m just impatient, but I hare waiting for things to load.

Buying a solid state hard drives increases the speed of everything buy usually a factor of 5.

I highly recommend buying a Solid State Hard drive not only for your gaming computer but any computer.

As SSD’s are more expensive if you buy one which doesn’t have a lot of room, you are better off loading your Windows operating system and games onto the SSD and using a external or standard internet HDD (Hard Disk Drive) for your regular storage of files, documents, movies and pictures etc.

    Memory

Buy a motherboard which supports DDR4 Memory.

You wont notice a lot of difference between DDR3 and DD4 in comparison to DDR2, but DDR4 is faster, uses a lot less electricity and much better than its predecessors.

The price isn’t much different from DDR3 so this one is a no brainier.

    Graphics Card

When people are deciding to build a gaming computer it is usually the first thing they think of.

But buy the best graphics card in the world wont work if your computer is lacking in other areas, such as the ones we have spoken above about.

You do need a graphics card, but again, there is no point buying one which is far out better than the games requirements, because you wont see any benefits, at least until you start playing more recourse demanding and intensive games.

If the prices fits, great. But if not, there is no point.
