Computer viruses have been going around for much of the evolution of the modern day computer and now Spyware removal is necessary in Townsville as well.
Going back to the late 40’s computer viruses have been infecting peoples computers and still do today. Raving havoc of peoples personal and business computers, doing everything from ruining important files, compromising business operations to destroying personal documents and files like photos.
Having a bad computer virus can destroy your computer, business and put a big dent in your production.
Even though there are a lot of viruses around these days still; I personally in Townsville don’t see the same sort of cost associated with viruses as I do with Spyware. Spyware can be a lot more costly!
What is Spyware
Spyware are programs like viruses on your computer which aren’t suppose to be on their, and instead of trying to destroy your computer like viruses, try to destroy your bank account or finances instead.
Although Spyware has a large array of objectives it tries to achieve once on your computer, it’s prime objective is money.
There are a lot of less fortunate people in the world. We are shielded in Australia from a lot of what happens in poorer countries buy your computer is a direct line to a lot of desperate people who are willing to break the laws and write spyware programs to steal directly from your bank account.
How did i get Spyware on my computer?
Freeware – Free software
Most of the time I see Spyware on peoples computers in Townsville is because they have unfortunately unknowingly put it on their themselves.
A lot of Spyware is encapsulated and bundled with free software you download off the internet and install on your computer yourself.
For example, I came across a free program a couple of days ago which you can download and install to make videos from your existing picture library. The program actually worked built it also installed Spyware on your computer to try and capture credit card and bank details etc.
Note: You must have Antivirus software on your computer and you must keep it up to date for best chances of protection against spyware and viruses.
Embedded in web pages
Computer programmers and web designers can implant malicious computer code into web pages to automatically download and install spyware onto your computer without you knowing.
They do this by exploiting vulnerabilities in your web browser or plugins you have downloaded and added to your Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari or Mozilla Firefox.
Note: Keep your web browser and plugins like flash up to date.
How to stay protected
Like most things in life there are no real guarantees. But there aare things you can do to ensure you have the best chances of not getting any Spyware on your computer.
- Always keep you operating system up to date (Eg. Windows Updates).
- Always keep your Antiviruses up to date (Eg. AVG, Notron Updates).
- Keep your Web Browser up to date. (Eg. Internet Explorer).
- Be careful what you click on and where you go.
A big part of staying safe on the internet is questioning and researching before you do something. If something is bad on the internet there is a good chance other people have come across it before you and wrote about it on the internet.
A quick search in Google can yield an infinite amount of knowledge relating to everything Spyware related and how to keep safe.
