    PopUps taking over your computer

Its bad enough when you start using your computer and all of the sudden popups start bugging you and interfering with whatever your doing, but what do you do if it happens straight up; when your computer has just been turned on?

When you are using your computer and more and more popups start bugging you there are a lot of things you can do like change the configuration of your computer or run and antivirus scan. These can work very well and eliminate a lot of problems. When it does become a big hassle though is when you don’t get time to make any changes. It happens before you can even use your computer!

This can make it a lot more difficult to remove these type of popups.

Popups where not always bad. In fact they were invented for completely legitimate reasons. Over time the bad people have started using them to take over your computer and now Popups have a very bad name.

    If your fast enough

Criminals use Popups as a tool to scare you into buying something for your computer you probably don’t need. Like a new type of virus removal to remove viruses they say are on your computer. The viruses which probably aren’t there and if are where most likely planted by them.

Basically what you want to do is stop the popups jumping up and taking over your computer before they get a chance to really take effect. Once they get going it can be very hard to stop and most likely the only way to start again is to restart your computer. Doing the restart through the normal software reboot process might be impossible and you might have to do a hard reboot by physically turning off the machine and starting it again.

If you can get in there quick enough and have some time to disable the popups, viruses or programs bugging you, you will have to do it straight away when the computer starts. If you can do this, the next time you boot up might give you more of a chance to run some antivirus removal tools or uninstall the culprits.

If you cant get onto your computer in time

This can be a very big problem and there are two ways to tackle this.

    A clean Install

Wiping your hard drive completely, taking all your data off you will need first, reinstalling your operating system and setting your computer up again.

Most people would not like to do this because sometimes it can be a pain to set everything back up again. Plus to do this you will need to take your hard drive out first, put it into another computer and get your files off before replacing it back into your machine.

You might also risk infecting your friends computer doing this. But it can work.

    The actual removal

The removal of the files on your computer causing the popups to come on and take over your computer before you can get a chance to use it can be hard and time consuming.

The process would usually involves using some sort of boot disk and booting your computer from a USB or optical drives operating system and mounting your computers hard drive as a slave.

This would give you the ability to control your computer and access your hard drive to remove the files that are causing the problems. Many distributions of Linux will give you a boot version of the operating system which works very well in these circumstances.
