For the majority of people using smart phones, there are 2 giants in the market. The Iphone which is made by Apple which uses the IOS operating system and Android phones which is made by countless other companies which use Googles operating system named Android.

Within the Android operating system you can download millions of different apps to make your life better, or more complicated depending on which way you look at it.

Google make a eMail app for Android called Gmail; the same name as their free email service used by millions of people from all around the world.

The great thing about the Gmail app is over the years it has made it much easier for you to not only add your personal Gmail email account to, but also a range of other email services as well such as Yahoo Mail and Outlook.com.

With a little bit of tweaking you are also able to add other email services such as your company or website POP and IMAP accounts.

What the Google Gmail app did have problems with is adding exchange servers into the application, until now.

What is Microsoft Exchange

Microsoft Exchange is a program installed on many organisations internal servers to host and control their emails. Some of these emails were accessible from the outside and worked well, and some places were set up to only be used inside.

Microsoft Exchange server was a great option to accompany companies and departments who already used Microsoft Windows servers to control the computer network and all its users.

As times change and so does the technology more and more people started to need accessing to their emails out of office and on the go and so changes Microsoft Exchange to satisfy those customers. Setting up Microsoft Exchange to work with other programs outside of the network could sometimes be tricky and many programs where unable to do it properly.

Microsoft Outlook had a distinctive advantage to accessing Exchange externally and that is the way it stood for a few years until now.

Android Gmail App now Supporting Exchange Servers

Many Gmail app users have been waiting a lot of years for Gmail app and Exchange support.

Microsoft Outlook have been holding the mantle in this department but over the next week Gmail app users will slowly update their Gmail app to support the same features.

Now if you are running the Gmail app you should find it a lot more easier to add your Microsoft Exchange server mail to your Android phone.

But it is not going to work on Gmail apps. If you are using an Iphone or device such as an Ipad which uses Apples IOS operating system unfortunately you will be left out right now for the update.

Currently this update will only be for Android smart phones.
