    Conflicting Software Issues

Although there are many parts and different types of software and hardware on your computer,  the two main parts people mostly refer to are hardware and software.

Hardware the physical components you can touch like your motherboard, hard drive, mouse, monitor, keyboard, memory and so on.

    What is Software

Software can be anything from the operating system you are using such as Windows, OSX and Linux, to the actual apps and programs you use such as Itunes and Windows Media Player.

Basically all the program which are written in computer programmable languages such as Java and C++ are software.

    What are Software Conflicts

Software conflict are generally when two computer programs running on the same computer, at the same time conflict.

This is usually when they are both competing for the same recourse on the computer =such are memory.

Sometimes software conflicts exist because of poor programming on=r bugs in the code. Other times two packages require too much or same resources and will just not work together resulting in one having to be uninstalled or an update from the designers.’

    How to Identify Software Conflicts

Software conflicts are not easy to identify. Sometimes when software plays up on the computer people are quick to jump to the conclusion it might be a software conflict, when it might be something else like viruses or failing computer hardware.

To start looking for software conflicts go to My Computer and then Control Panel.

In control panel there will be a folder called “Administrator Tools”, click on that to open the file which will display a list of programs to use.

Click on Windows Logs and look for either a Black or White exclamation mark. Click on one it and you might be able to determine which program is giving you problems.

The General tab will show you more information.

    Common Conflict

Antivirus – Antiviruses are very necessary for the protection of your computer, but sometimes they can also cause trouble on your computer, such as the inability to connect to the internet, or being able to turn your computer.

One of the most common conflicts is having more than one antivirus on your computer. Running more than one antiviruses on your computer can severely hinder its ability to protect you from viruses.

Competing antiviruses company’s are going so far as trying to stop other company’s installing antiviruses on a computer there software is on. There are current court case proceedings as I type this document.

Scheduling Conflicts – When two software applications try and perform an operating at the same time, again competing for resources on the computer.

This can include everything from Video Cards to back up devices.
