    One Drive Less Storage Space

I don’t use OneDrive. I jumped into Dropbox when it was first release and have bene using it ever since. I don’t use a lot of space on it, mostly just files I use on the run and files I need to sync with my laptop, and phone.

Storing files in the cloud is also an excellent option for travelling, but a lot of people i know store all the files, music, videos and pictures etc in the cloud as a form of backup and it is a very good solution.

OneDrive is an alternative to DropBox. Recently OneDrive announced the t will be decreasing their storage limits come July down from 15GB to 5GB.

This will annoy a lot of people I know. Luckily there are a couple of things you can do to get some more storage on OneDrive.

If you refer your friends or family to OneDrive, Microsoft will give you an additional 500MB for every person who signs up under your link. Alternatively, if you do not have any friends or family or just cant be bothered referring people, you can purchase an additional 50GB of space every month for $1.99.

    No Need for Batteries

Some very smart people at the University of Washington have designed a small computer that does not require batteries.

This clever little device gets it’s energy from radio waves and converts it into power, to power the device. Right now it is nowhere near like a traditional computer nor has the power and memory capability. It can however control a little board with sensors and move data across it.

It has been liked and compared to a small wearable device like a Fitbit.

But surely you can see in the future, with all these Radio Waves flying around the air, if we could just pull them out to power all our devices, could certainly make running all these devices a lot more cheaper!

Computer Virus Attacks German Nuclear Plant

This week a big German nuclear plant was infected with a computer virus. The computers infected are the ones which are related to the fuel rods but fortunately aren’t connected to the rest of the rector network to cause any damage,

Both the viruses are form of Spyware.

W32.Ramnit and Conficker are the names of the viruses and have bene around for about 5 years. They are primarily used for spying and trying to get username and passwords.

So don’t feel to bad if you get viruses and spyware on your computer, even these multibillion dollar computer networks get them. If you have any computer virus problems please call Townsville Nerds on 0402 807 890.
