Best Apple Mac Tools – Part 2

    Apple Imac Mac Repairs Townsville

    Fluid

Fluid is  one of the best Mac only apps I have come across.

If you can image away to put multiple websites into a single browser you can see all at the same time, it would be fluid.

Fluid is completely free and perfect for someone who wants to create their own app made completely from web apps, but doesn’t want to spend the time and money in developing and learning computer code to make their owns apps.

For example, you might have Gmail email account. With Fluid you can quickly make a Gmail app on your computer to pull up Gmail every time you want to use it, with out having to go into your email client, or log in using your web browser.

    Adium

Do you have more the one IM (Instant Messaging) account with uses many different logins, accounts, and applications to access each one.

Adium does a fantastic job of importing all these accounts from different services into one application so you can easily message and email all your contacts within one single application.

Adium is completely free and comes bundled with the following but also works well with third party applications as well.
    XMPP (“Jabber”), including
    Google Talk
    LJ (LiveJournal) Talk
    AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)
    ICQ
    Bonjour, compatible with iChat
    Twitter
    IRC
    Gadu-Gadu
    IBM Lotus Sametime
    Novell GroupWise

    Reeder

Reeder is simply the best RSS news-reading app probably for any platform.

This application is incredibly intuitive, has very few bugs and my choice for the best RSS reader on any platform at all. Once you use Reeder you will find it very hard to use any other feed viewer and is one of the main reasons I love the OSX operating system and Apple environment.

Version 3.0 comes with native buffer integration which is just awesome and enables you to share to multiple Social network accounts and them with only a few clicks to your buffer queue.

    Time Machine Backup

Anyone who reads my posts will know beyond the shadow of the doubt that I think backing up is probably the most important thing you can do on your work or home computer.

Unfortunately most backup programs are too complicated or too hard too use.

Time Machine is Apples own software and comes with all versions of OSX.

All you have to do is plug a new hard drive into your Mac or Imac computer and you will immediately be prompted by your Mac computer, and be asked if you would like to use this drive with Time Machine.

Time machine does not only back up your files unnoticeably in the background when your using your computer or not, it also makes snap shots of different times of your files.

This basically means you can choose which version of your backup you want to retrieve. Just say you deleted a file from your desktop. You can very easily go into time machine and copy back the deleted file, from either yesterday or going years back, depending how long you have had the file and what amended version of the file you want to copy back.

Time machine can also be done over your wireless network to a wireless device like Apple Airport Extreme attached drive or Apple Time Capsule, which means you don’t have to physically plug a drive into your computer and your Mac is always backing up.
